Day 10 🏠 to 🏠 Challenge

Today's ride was with hubby πŸ₯° (pictured). We got dropped off with our bikes in Rangiora 🚡🚡‍♂️ Our plan was to cycle from Rangiora to Belfast. Trip was going well made it to Kaiapoi just got past Hellers Factory and heard a hisssss. Hubby called out to me to stop. I turned round biked to hubby to see his tyre completely flat, it was a blow out. That was the end of our ride. Our son picked us and our bikes up to go home.

Ended cycling 11kms.

Day 8 🏠 to 🏠 Challenge 🚴‍♀️

 Hey all πŸ™‹‍♀️

Today I had a change of scenery and went off the cycleway onto a track (as pictured). The last time I cycled this track ended in disaster 🀬 I ran into mud and got stuck, the worst thing was I had warning with seeing puddles beforehand but too stubborn to turn back, had the compulsion to finish the ride. Long story short after spending at least an hour walking through mud carrying bike as best I could with help from my teenage son we finally made it out of the mud and back onto cycleway to ride home, me in barefeet, lost my shoes in mud. It was freeing despite my poor judgment to make it out. I felt for my son seeing his Mum curse 🀬 He was brilliant didn't get angry or call me stupid just kept his cool and helped carry my bike when I struggled trudging through the mud.

So that's the reason I have avoided this track for sooo long.

The track has become overgrown its more like a single track. I did meet 2 other cyclists and needed to stop to allow them to pass, thankfully the rest of the track was on my own.

Update I've now cycled 56kms, got 154kms to go 🚴‍♀️

Fundraising at $410, still need $787 to meet goal $1,197. If you can help please do any amount would be greatly appreciated πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™Click this link https://housetohouse.org.nz/veronica-mckinnon

Cycling distance so far 23kms, just 187kms to go. To complete 52.5kms in first week I have 2 days left to do 29.5kms, sounds like a lot but not for me when I cycle total 24kms for a return trip to work.

Day 2 🏠 to 🏠 Challenge

Firstly I would like to thank all those who donated yesterday, and with Ray White matching your donations it doubled. Yesterday I received 3 donations total $160 which will be $320 with Ray Whites contribution.

Total donations so far $410

My goal is to raise $1,197 I've chosen this amount as it provides a weeks accommodation at Ronald McDonald House 🏠

I've chosen 210km to cycle cos 210kms is the distance parents travel to be with their sick child.

Now you know how I've chosen both my fundraising goal $1,197 and 210kms to cycle.

Today I've started cycling towards 210kms with 7kms.

I'm loving this challenge and hope you enjoy reading about my journey to raise $1,197πŸ’΅cycling 210kms 🚴‍♀️

See you next post 😊

Day 1 🏠 to 🏠 Challenge 2024

Today is the very first day of Ronald McDonald 🏠 to 🏠 Challenge. So I have 7 days to cycle 52.5kms 🚴‍♀️

The Final Countdown

Time flies it's just 3 days till the 🏠to🏠 challenge starts.

Just last weekend I cycled total 48kms, great practice when I'll need to cycle 52.5 kms each week all of March.

Bring it on 🚴‍♀️

My Motivation

 Hi all πŸ™‹‍♀️

I was playing games on my cellphone when an ad popped up for Ronald McDonald House. I looked at the ad and they are doing a fundraising promo called House to House Challenge. As I was reading all about it I thought back to my sister staying at Starship (North Island) to be close to her sick child and what wonderful support she got. This is my reason to take on the Ronald McDonald 🏠 to 🏠 Challenge.

Ronald McDonald House to House Challenge 2026

Yes I took part in 2026 Ronald McDonald 🏠 to 🏠 Challenge to cycle 210kms in 31 days. I completed it at the end of week 3, which was just ...
